A bit about Frankie
Frankie Miller was born on 2nd November 1949, raised in Brigton in the east end of Glasgow, growing up with a passion for the blues, rock n’ roll and soul music of the 60’s. Artists, who not only performed, but who were Songwriters; artists such as Ray Charles, Bobby Bland, Otis Redding and Little Richard.
Frankie was intrigued from a very early age in the way that these ‘Artist/Writers’ structured and crafted their classic songs. If you are unfamiliar with Frankie Miller, simply check him out on YouTube. The first thing that will astound you is his incredible, soulful voice.
Rod Stewart, a great Friend of Frankie’s, says of him ‘He’s the only white Singer that ever brought a tear to my eye’.
As well as Rod, Elton John, The Eagles, Joe Cocker, Roy Orbison, Cher, Willie Nelson, Paul Carrack, Etta James, Johnny Cash, Bob Seger, Travelling Wilburys, Joe Walsh, Johnny Depp, The Everly Brothers and Ray Charles are just some of the other incredible (over one hundred and fifty in all) internationally renowned Artistes who have covered and indeed, had hits with Frankie’s great songs.
Fullhouse 2024
Now comes the exciting prospect of Frankie’s ‘musical legacy’ being reinvigorated. Some of the UK’s finest musicians (all of who have recorded, toured and are long standing friends of Frankie) are determined to help to perpetuate the music of Frankie Miller and help it survive the test of time. That band are ‘Fullhouse’.
Ray Minhinnett has put a fantastic new line up together led by himself on guitar. Ray was the founder of Fullhouse in 1976 with Frankie Miller himself, and who has acted as Frankies’ MD for many years on both live and studio projects, including the latest ‘Double Take’ – Duets Album, released on Universal Records.
The band features a stunning singer, Gregor McGregor, who like Frankie himself, hails from Glasgow; Steve Browning (David Gilmour & Pretty Things) on bass; Ray Drury (Producers) on keys; and Clive Edwards (UFO) on drums.
Ray worked extensively in the Studio with the great man and after the original band ended, still carried on playing on many demos, which are now now classic songs including their biggest selling single from 1977 ‘Be Good To Yourself’ (penned by Free Bass Player Andy Fraser), The Rock, Love Letters. Fool In Love and Ain’t Got No Money. More recently, and live with the new ‘Fullhouse’ band: Guilty of the Crime, I’d Lie To You For Your Love, Jealousy, and Over The Line.
New Fullhouse album
Ray has produced and is currently re-mixing, and putting finishing touches to the ‘Fullhouse Play Frankie Miller’ album which is due for release, at last, in 2024.
The recording of the Album began in France in 2019 and was originally scheduled for 2020 but has been delayed thanks to the ‘Plandemic’ and the English label going into liquidation.
The album includes two previously unreleased songs written by Frankie and features old friends of Frankie and Ray’s, musicians guesting from America and here in the UK including: Jimmie ‘Bones’ Trombley (Kid Rock Band) on keys; Terry ‘Tex’ Comer (Ace, Suth Bros & Quiver) on bass; Steve Simpson (Ronnie Lane Slim Chance) on guitars; Dave ‘Bucket’ Colwell (Humble Pie) on 2nd guitar solo on ‘Be Good To Yourself’; Kev Sanders (Rhythm Machine) on bass on ‘Raining Whiskey & Last Heart Breaker’; Ray Drury (Fullhouse) Piano & Hammond Organ on ‘A Fool In Love’ and Ian Ellis & Ray Minhinnett on backing vocals.
